Throughout day-to-day life, many people face ups and downs, meaning that they don’t always feel happy. However, with International Happiness Day approaching, we feel that this should change.
Everyone deserves to feel a sense of joy and happiness; it’s something that can completely change a person’s outlook and a smile can travel for miles. But it’s also extremely easy to make someone happy. Whether it’s through gifts like flowers and chocolates or even a simple compliment, anything that will make someone smile is well worth doing.
International Happiness Day will soon be here, so it’s time to start planning what you will do to make your friends and family happy. If you are struggling for ideas, check out our top tips before the 20th of March.
This idea is perfect for the one you love. Although you may see one another on a daily basis, why not turn up at their work as a surprise and take them out to dinner, or even just visit to say ‘I love you’ face to face. It’s something that they won’t be expecting and is guaranteed to make them smile.
You could also visit a friend or family member that lives far away. Just turn up as a surprise – again they won’t be expecting it and it’s a great way to show them how much you care.
Pay a Compliment
This is one idea that you can do with everyone – colleagues, your friends and family. Pay a compliment to everyone you see or talk to in your day, even if you’re only passing. It may sound simple but it works. Everyone you speak to will be left smiling and you may even receive a few compliments yourself!
Give a Gift
You could also give someone you love a gift. It doesn’t even have to be expensive or extravagant, just a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates will do. It will bring a smile to their face and may improve their entire week. You could even combine this idea with a surprise and send it to their workplace or home. They definitely wouldn’t be expecting that!
Offer to Help
Lastly, you could offer to help someone out. If it’s a colleague at work who is feeling under pressure or has a lot to do, why not offer to help? Or if it’s a family member in need of a favour, why not volunteer to help them out?
Not only will this make them happy but it will also give you a sense of pride and a share in their happiness too. The fact that you’re willing to offer help should make you feel proud and show just how much you care.
All of these are great examples of how you can make someone feel happy this International Happiness Day, but there are plenty of other ways to spread the joy. As you go through your day, look out for any opportunities to make someone smile. Just remember – a smile can travel a million miles and it only needs to start with one person. So, whether you surprise a loved one with the gift of flowers and chocolates or offer to help someone out, make someone smile this International Happiness Day.
