The Calamondin Orange Tree it's most common name, is also know as Citrus × microcarpal or Citrus x citrofortunella mitis. It is native to China, Phillipines, Taiwan, Borneo and Indonesia and sometimes in spring or summer little white flowers will bloom on this citrus tree. It is a bushy plant that bears fruit which is long lasting on the tree and has a bright orange colour with a wonderful scent. The Clamondin has a sharp but bitter taste like lemon or limes, it is best used for cooking, drinks or making marmalade.
We reccommend adding fertiliser regularly and cutting fruit off instead of picking by hand. It is best placed in sheltered sunshine outdoors during summer only or in a greenhouse or conservatory in temperatures no less than 12°C but preferably in temperatures of 20°C and warmer. It must be watered well but the soil should be very well drained as if it becomes water logged it will begin to rot, please allow the soil to dry between waterings, atleast 1 inch.
